My Story: From Surviving to Thriving

 

My name is Chris Stagg, and I’m the founder of Stagg Fitness, a personal training and online coaching company based in St. John’s, Newfoundland. I didn’t become a fitness coach because I grew up loving the gym.

I became one because fitness saved my life.

 

At 16, I survived a devastating car accident that fractured my skull, caused a brain bleed, broke my ribs, and punctured my lung. Doctors weren’t sure if I’d walk again. I had to rebuild everything — balance, strength, and confidence. Sports were gone. My old identity was gone. I spent years just trying to find myself again.

 

Later in life, my father went through triple bypass heart surgery, and watching him fight for his health became a wake-up call. I knew what my future would look like if I didn’t change.

 

But instead of stepping into fitness, I ran from it.

I moved to Alberta, worked as a carpenter for 10 years, and buried myself in long hours and unhealthy habits. I chased money, not purpose.

 

It wasn’t until I moved home after a difficult breakup that everything shifted. During a late-night conversation, my mom reminded me of something I’d forgotten:

 

“You survived for a reason. Don’t waste your second chance.”

 

That moment changed my life — and led to the creation of Stagg Fitness.

 

 

 

 

Rebuilding My Health Sparked My Mission

 

I started small: daily walks, basic workouts, and cleaning up my nutrition.

Slowly, I rebuilt from the ground up.

 

I lost over 50 lbs.

I transformed my body, my mindset, and my lifestyle.

And I realized something powerful:

 

If I could rebuild my life through fitness, I could help others do the same.

 

That’s when I became a personal trainer and eventually one of the most trusted online fitness coaches in Newfoundland.
